What is the process of appealing a court martial?

The appeals process involves submitting a case to the authority that convened your court martial. After the case is submitted, it will be sent to the Court of Criminal Appeals. That court will review the information in the request for an appeal. The information that is important in an appeal is strictly legal errors that took place during your trial, or improper sentencing. Unfortunately, no matter how well-intentioned, court-assigned attorneys are often inexperienced and unable to successfully file an appeal. The appeals process is complex, and an appointed lawyer may not have the knowledge you need in this critical matter.
