Asking Questions of Your Attorney May Reveal Surprising Results

PARALEGAL SUPPORT STAFF

The Law Firm of McCormack and McCormack has highly experienced paralegals, each with an extensive military background, who work closely in support of Greg McCormack in defense of our client. Some attorney’s who handle military law cases have minimal, or no support staff whatsoever. Ask the attorney who you are consulting with about his or her support staff. When you call our office between the hours of 0730 and 0530 your call will always be answered by a member of our staff, not an answering machine or voice mail, and one of our military paralegals will be able to immediately assist you.

OFFICE

The Law Firm of McCormack and McCormack has owned its law office since 1996. Some attorneys who handle military law do not even have an office, and attempt to operate their law practice out of their personal homes. Other attorneys may utilize a “virtual office” where they can meet with a client or consult in an office environment, that is not really the actual location where the attorney works out of, which may be on his kitchen table.

TRIAL EXPERIENCE

Greg McCormack began handling courts-martial in 1979 when he was with the Army JAG Corps as a prosecutor, and then as a military defense counsel. Since leaving the Army in 1982, Greg McCormack has continuously been in a trial courtroom, litigating fully contested courts-martial and administrative separation actions in defense of military personnel.

Some attorneys who handle military law have recently separated from the service with only several years of experience, which may have included a significant period of time in a desk job. Other attorneys who handle military law may have recently retired from the military, not as a JAG attorney, but who attended law school while in the military or after retirement.

Ask the attorney you are consulting with about his or her actual trial experience – how many courts-martial have they actually been involved with as one of the defending or prosecuting attorneys? Does the attorney have in excess of 30 years of actual court-martial litigation experience, in the court room, and not sitting behind a desk in some administrative billet?

LEGAL FEES

The Law Firm of McCormack and McCormack bases its legal fees on a number of factors which may vary from case to case, but in all cases, the fees charged will be reasonable under the circumstances of your case. There are times and places to hunt out the “lowest price” – when you are fighting for your career, your integrity, your efforts to avoid long term confinement and to protect the financial security of you and your family, getting a “bargain” for a legal fee may be a costly mistake.

When you are trying to decide which lawyer you will have defend you, you need to look at the experience level of the attorney in question – does he have in excess of 30 years of hard-core trial litigation experience? Does he have quality paralegal support who will work closely with you, even when the attorney is not in the office? Does he even have an office?
